ILLINOIS Apna Ghar Apna Ghar is a domestic violence shelter serving primarily Asian women and children, and was the first Asian shelter of its kind in the Mid-Western United States. Apna Ghar takes its name from a Hindu-Urdu phrase meaning "Our Home", and since January 1990 has served over 3500 domestic violence clients. Asian Human Services, Inc. AHS is a non-profit organization aimed at meeting the health care and human services needs of the APA immigrant and refugee population in Chicago. Chinese American Service League CASL is a non-profit agency that provides social service centers to aid the Chinese community in Chicago with family, economic and mental support. Chinese Mutual Aid Association CMAA serves over 7,500 Chinese and other immigrants and refugees by providing services to facilitate the adjustment to life in the United States. Indo-American Center The Indo-American Center provides services that aid Indo-Americans with adjustment and integration among each other and the wider society. Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. provides legal services to low income persons to enforce their legal rights, obtain effective access to the justice system, and help such persons become economically self-sufficient. United Cambodian Association of Minnesota, Inc. United Cambodian Association of Minnesota, Inc. is an organization serving the Cambodian community in the Twin Cities area. Women's Association of Hmong & Lao, Inc. The Women's Association of Hmong & Lao is dedicated to providing for the needs of Hmong and Lao women and their families. WISCONSIN Hmong American Friendship Association The Hmong American Friendship Association serves the Southeastern Asian refugee population to improve the quality of life for families in the area. Indochinese Learning Center The mission of the Indochinese Learning Center is to provide services which develop the abilities and skills of the individual and thereby strengthen the family and community. To assist students in reaching their goals, the center offers support services such as translation, child care, and referrals. United Hmong and Asian American Community Center Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association WAHMA provide social, educational, and economic development services to Southeast Asian residents in order to enhance and strength their transition and integration into the local communities while preserving their cultural heritage. |
