A Comprehensive Guide to the Asian Pacific American Community (2002) will be available soon! This Comprehensive Guide is an update of the 2000 Comprehensive Guide which included information on:

• Profiles of individual ethnic groups: insight to demographics, migration patterns, historical backgrounds, and major issues facing each community
• Statistical information on APAs including per capita income, education, household income, etc.
• Directory of over 200 APA organizations in the Chicago area

New to the Comprehensive Guide
A Study on the Housing Needs of the APA Community

The Comprehensive Guide will also include a housing report aimed to shed light on the housing needs of the APA community.

Building upon the findings from the Institute's previous Senior Citizen Housing Needs Assessment, published in January 2000, this section consists of focus group interviews, conducted with Asian Pacific American residents from across the city and suburbs. These focus groups discussed issues such as the level of access they have to affordable housing, their satisfaction with their current living conditions, and any barriers they may have encountered in their search for housing. It also assesses the opinions of community based organizations about the housing needs of their clients.

Community Forum

A Community Forum will be held to present the Comprehensive Guide, findings of the Housing Study and Census research. The Community Forum will also have a panel discussion about housing issues affecting the community.
